This week has been about cleaning house, getting caught up on school work and trying to prepare for our upcoming trip to South Carolina. I cannot tell you how excited I am to take the trip to SC. My dad moved there 10 years ago and unfortunately, we have only made the trip 1 time to visit. The last time we were there L was 10 months old. Fortunately, my dad is able to visit every summer and spend a few weeks with us, but it has been so hard financially and time wise to make the trip there. This year we decided we were making the trip no matter what and we leave in a few short weeks!!!
We are flying into Charleston so that R can see the ocean for the first time in his 31 years old life. L and I went to North Carolina last summer to see my friend, Kelli, and we were able to go to the ocean at that time. L would have stayed forever. He loved the feeling of the sand between his toes and the waves crashing into him.

We have been so lucky to have been able to travel so much this year. None of us had flown in over 8 years and then in less than 1 years time, I have been on an airplane 3 times. First it was North Carolina, then L won a Veteran’s Day Poster Contest and his prize was a trip to Washington, DC. We were in DC for 4 days and it was amazing!!! A whirlwind of a trip for sure, but so awesome to see all the sites that up until that point we had only read about and saw in pictures. Luke planned all the sight seeing and he got to see almost everything on his list. The awe on his face when he saw his favorite President, Lincoln, melted my heart. It was worth every stress that it took to plan the trip in a very short amount of time.
Here is L on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial!
And here he is in front of the Memorial.

Looking back on these trips and looking forward to the upcoming trip, I just feel so blessed. I never used to like traveling, but I seem to have caught a travel bug. Who knows where we will end up next!!
